Rutland Elementary School opened in September 1913. In those days a school was more than just a place to educate the children. It shaped character and provided leadership for the entire community. Rutland School inspired courage and compassion during two World Wars. Students volunteered for the Victory Garden and grew produce for the families torn apart by war.

The old brick schoolhouse represents a history we’re proud of. Legacy is honoured to preserve the heritage building, its sheltering stand of trees, and the original spirit of a community with heart.
