R&B welcomed an opportunity to preserve the historic Rutland Elementary School. There's a strong local attachment to the aged brick structure and all that it represents. Since 1913 it has been the heart of Rutland. Now it will give life to a new community, built on the foundations of and honouring the traditions of the old.

Many of the area's seniors remember attending the school, and preserving that richness of memory is essential to R&B Construction. Students formed relationships that lasted a lifetime. They planned their lives and dreamed their futures behind those walls. Now a new generation can build their dreams and plan their futures. That's because Legacy's proximity to the expanding UBC Okanagan Campus makes it ideal housing for post-secondary students.

Legacy will retain the school's historic character. R&B plans to keep the original brick walls, arched windows and high ceilings. New buildings constructed on the property will borrow the heritage look, taking on the essence of another era. The towering old trees will be preserved. Flower gardens and benches will make a park-like element for all residents to enjoy.

R&B's directors have been building quality new homes in Kelowna since 1987.
